Good Neighbour Scheme
Update : A 2nd public meeting to progress the setting up of the scheme was held on Wednesday 2nd May, 19:00 in the village hall. At this meeting the initial steering group for the scheme was appointed and the next actions defined. Progress - March 2012
We have got the results in from our village survey, and there is enough support to introduce a Good Neighbour Scheme to the village during the year. The scheme will be much the same as the one in Whissendine and other villages throughout the country. It is designed to assist members of the community with small household tasks that they are unable to perform themselves, provide transport for those without their own means of getting to Doctors or Hospital appointments, and offer assistance with completing complicated forms or just popping round to have a chat with those living alone.
After the village hall meeting, we have a local team: Sue Willets, Sue Bichard, Amy Smith, Paul Rogerson and Jim Atack
As well as participating in the scheme as volunteers, the team will decide on resource levels, the direction of the project and figure out how to share the load around the village. The team will now start work on the preliminaries: |
